Physical activity is anything that gets your body moving.

According to the 2008 Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans, you need to do two types of physical activity each week to improve your health–aerobic and muscle-strengthening.

If you haven’t already, read the guidelines for your age group and watch the Introduction to the Physical Activity Guidelines Video.

These resources help explain minimum levels of physical activity for health, give you tips on how to reach those levels safely, and show you how to do muscle strengthening exercises properly so you prevent injury.
