Healthy People, Healthy Carolinas Adds Five New Communities

March 7, 2017

Healthy People, Healthy Carolinas aims to dramatically improve community health and health outcomes—focusing specifically on nutrition, physical activity and prevention of chronic disease.  The Duke Endowment has made an initial investment of $450,000 in each community to support the coalition over the next three years and has tasked Improvement Partners with leading the initiative in North Carolina.

The Duke Endowment hosted a kickoff event on Tuesday, February 28th to launch five new and diverse North Carolina coalitions — from Brunswick, Henderson, Pitt, Roberson and Rowan counties – bringing the total number of NC based Healthy People, Healthy Carolinas coalitions to ten.

Improvement Partners will provide expert coaches for each community, offering individualized technical assistance and facilitating the exchange of lessons learned.  Representatives from the five coalitions will participate in a learning collaborative with opportunities to share information with each other as they develop best practices for organizing, planning and implementing evidence-based programs known to improve health.
